WHAT IS IT?

XE.com is arguably the finest currency converter on the web. Google seems to think it is. And we’ve been using it here at Appys.com since the turn of the century, so we think we’re well qualified to comment.

WHAT'S IT LIKE?

XE.com’s UCC (Universal Currency Converter) sports a gloriously stripped down, simple user interface and its mobile app is no exception, whichever platform you’re using.

You can monitor multiple currencies and pin your favourite to the top of the chart. Currencies are updated at preset intervals – which you can adjust – so you’ll always be there or thereabouts with your calculations when on the move.

XE includes every data for every world currency and even pricing for precious metals, in case you find yourself with a spot of gold to get rid of at short notice.

OUR VERDICT

‘Simple’ is the operative word here. ‘Functional’ is another relevant one. Since ‘Simple and functional’ pretty much describes the XE Currency Converter, I think we can broadly say that this app is a useful addition to anyone’s smartphone or tablet.
