Spotify updates Android app for improved music streaming

App now includes artist profiles, gapless playback and playlist folder support

Spotify users rejoice! The temperamental Android music streaming app has been given a makeover with added functionality to match its iPhone and iPad counterparts.

Following a beta release of the new app in April, the improved Android download arrives on Google Play with plenty of fresh features. Google-powered smartphone owners can now enjoy a cleaner interface that’s jam-packed with album art, as well as playlist folder support and gapless playback.

Also included in the improved app are artist profile pages and imagery, that’s in addition to the usual Last.fm scrobbling functionality which tracks the music you listen to. This doesn’t come for free, however, as you’ll still need a premium Spotify subscription to use the app.
