Featuring Hailo, London Tube Deluxe and London Official Guide
What with the Olympics about to begin any moment now, the spotlight is on London like never before. England and the UK’s capital city is expecting an influx of over four million extra visitors during the Games and while we’re not great at maths, we don’t think they can all fit in the Olympic Stadium at once.
Luckily enough, we’ve compiled a list of the best apps for anyone planning to brave the tube and enjoy the many wonders this hub of history, culture and sport has to offer.
London Official City Guide
Launched just in time for the Olympics, London Official City Guide is exactly what it claims to be. Not only does this free download include a guide to what’s on, there are also trails which you can follow to take in the city’s picturesque scenery.
London Tube Deluxe
There are many, many tube apps available to download across all smartphone platforms but Tube Deluxe is our personal favourite. Unshakeably reliable and easy to use, you’ll never get lost on the underground again.
Things To Do: London
Time Out specialise in offering the inside curve on the capital’s cultural events and this official app is no different. With detailed listings on gigs, events, bars, restaurants, club nights and film releases – you’re really spoilt for entertainment choice.
Hailo is an app that promises to deliver you a taxi with just two taps of your smartphone’s touchscreen. If you need to get around London in double time then this is a fantastic download.
London 2012: Official Results App
While we’re sure most of you with tickets for the Games will be fully aware where your relevant events are being held, those of you who are still unsure can check the Official Results App. This contains a schedule for all Olympic events and their results… obviously.
So that’s our selection of the best London travel apps but have you spotted a download we’ve missed out on? Let us know by venting your frustration in the comments section below.
