Celebrity game show promises "big laughs" and cash prizes
Like celebrity game shows? Love Draw Something? Then boy-oh-boy, do we have a story for you. American TV network CBS has commissioned an unscripted pilot based on the insanely popular sketching app.
Set to feature “teams of celebrities and everyday users [testing] their skills in front of a studio audience to earn money and big laughs”, the Draw Something show promises to be quite something. With American Idol host Ryan Seacrest and British TV producer Michael Davies behind the project, it may well be enough of a success to make the transition to UK screens.
According to a CBS insider who spoke about the show to Deadline, ”Viewers can also play along at home for a chance to win prizes and compete with the celebrities.”
Draw Something has achieved phenomenal success in a ridiculously short amount of time, grabbing 50 million downloads just 50 days after its launch. This lead to a £126 million sale of its developers OMGPOP to gaming giant Zynga in March.
Sadly, the number of Draw Something users demonstrating their dodgy art skills has dropped off since April leading to a 50% decline in Zynga’s stock price.
