A range of free filters, frames and transformations set for new operating system
Instagram may be the photo-editing app of choice for iPhone and Android users but BlackBerry owners are still waiting on the Facebook-owned app. According to a report from CrackBerry, RIM is set to unleash its own built-in photo-editing suite for the forthcoming BlackBerry 10 operating system.
Complete with a range of filters, frames and transformations, this new offering is aimed firmly at the teenage crowd who are still addicted to BlackBerry Messenger. Interestingly, the feature appears to work in conjunction with technology licensed from Scalado – a Swedish firm which was recently acquired by Nokia.
BlackBerry 10 is only available to special test developers at the moment but it’s expected to hit the BlackBerry PlayBook and RIM’s new smartphones sometime later this year. As for when Instagram is arriving on BlackBerry, it looks as though Mark Zuckerberg is keeping the app locked up on iPhone and Android for the meantime.
