BBC News voted Best News & Weather app at Appys Awards 2012

 
BBC News has wiped the floor with the opposition at the Carphone Warehouse Appys Awards 2012, taking 54% of the vote in the Best News & Weather app category.

BBC News brings together all of the best content from the BBC News website in a well thought out, easily shareable format for iPhone and iPad, Android, Blackberry and Nokia Symbian. With video content and live coverage from the BBC News TV channel and the ability to ‘push’ your favourite topics to the top of the app’s news feed, BBC News is a lesson in usability and simplicity.

Other nominees included Flipboard, Met Office, Mashable and Sky’s own News app, but none were able to overhaul BBC News’s mountain of votes.

“The BBC has made its name with quality reporting,  accuracy and attention to detail,  so its no surprise it’s put a similar level of thought into this brilliant app,” says Andrew Harrison, CEO of Best Buy Europe.
